Good things come in threes
Region: Gympie, QLD
- Better hooves
- Improved coat condition
- Quality pasture
Wayne and Paddi Muller relocated to their picturesque 250 acre property at Pie Creek, Gympie, after selling their cattle station at Rolleston. With the significant downsizing in land size the Muller’s looked at ways to run a profitable backgrounding and Australian Stock Horse breeding operation on a smaller scale.
When Wayne was asked about his experience working with AgSolutions he replied, “Everything has been so easy, from the initial phone call to arrange a soil test, to establishing a contractor to spread the NatraMin, to the ongoing monitoring of the program, it is all organised for me. I have applied NatraMin S to my pastures at 300kg/ha every year since 2014 and this year we have opted to apply NatraMin Hi-Phos at the same rate. Over the years I have noticed that the carrying capacity has improved and the stock that graze these pastures do so well and their coats bloom.”
Tailwind, one of the Muller’s horses, was selected to trial the new MegaMin Equine Enhancer product as he had previously suffered from a bad hoof abscess and had a dull, lacklustre coat. Wayne commented, “The improvement in Tailwind’s coat has been incredible since I started adding MegaMin Equine Enhancer into his diet. He is a horse that is prone to QLD Itch problems, but I have had no issues with him this season.”
You can now visibly see the improvement in the top half of his hoof and he looks like a different horse.”
It was while doing a follow-up visit for the MegaMin Equine Enhancer trial that Wayne mentioned the steers that were running on a paddock where he was unable to spread NatraMin were not handling the dry season and going backwards compared to the cattle that had access to improved paddocks. It was during this discussion that supplementation with MegaMin Graze & Grow (a dry feed and production supplement) was mentioned.
“I started feeding out MegaMin Graze & Grow 12% Salt as suggested and the cattle are now all going ahead. They are grazing more, the dung is good and their coats have all cleaned up. I am now confident that they will meet their target weight of between 430-450kg, where I was quite concerned a few months back,” concludes Wayne.
At AgSolutions, our vision is ‘Helping Australia Grow’ and we are looking forward to continuing to assist Wayne and Paddi in their future endeavours.
