Health & Safety Advisor – Gympie QLD
About Us
We’re a Gympie-based business operating in a hands-on, industrial environment — and we take the safety and wellbeing of our people seriously. Our Team is close-knit, down-to-earth and genuinely values the contribution that good health and safety practice makes to every single working day.
The Opportunity
This is a newly created role, and a genuinely interesting one. As our Health & Safety Advisor, you’ll be focusing on improving our health and safety governance and audit framework right down to the registers, the inductions and the monthly reporting that keeps everything ticking.
What You’ll Do
- Continuously improve our WHS Management System
- Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis (ICAM or equivalent)
- Conduct regular compliance audits and keep us audit-ready at all times
- Manage our return-to-work and WorkCover processes
- Maintain all compliance registers — chemicals, training, contractors and more
- Refine and implement a WHS training and skills development program
- Prepare monthly WHS reports and dashboards for the CEO
- Support supervisors with practical, day-to-day safety guidance
- Be our point of contact if we ever need to interface with the regulator
What We’re Looking For
- You don’t need to tick every box — but here’s what will set you up for success:
- Cert IV or Diploma in WHS
- 5+ years WHS experience — ideally in manufacturing, agriculture or industrial environments
- Solid investigation skills and experience with ICAM or a similar methodology
- Experience dealing with regulators
- Organised and detail-oriented
- A natural communicator who can work just as comfortably with the CEO as with the crew on the floor
Why You’ll Love It
- A small, friendly team that will actually notice and value the work you do
- Two to three days a week — room for a life outside work, in a region people actually want to live
- Direct access to leadership — no layers of bureaucracy between your ideas and action
- The chance to build something — this role has real scope to grow as you do
